FAQ’s

How Do I Attach the seabite alarm to my rod?

Different users have their own preference on how they attach the seabite to their rods. We would recommend binding the clips on with binding twine in a similar way that eyes would be bound onto the rod, the twine can then be sealed with adhesive or epoxy. Ensure that the rod clip is mounted so that the on off knob on the seabite points towards the rod tip.

Where on the rod should I place the alarm?

Most users position the seabite between the second and third eye on their rods. The nearer the rod tip the more sensitive the Seabite alarm can be.

How long do the batteries last?

This will depend on use, in particular how many bites are indicated, but you should expect around 24 hours of continuous use as an approximate guide.

Can I cast with the Seabite alarm attached to the rod?

You can cast with the alarm on if you are confident that the rod clip is securely fastened to the rod and has been fitted so that the on off knob on the seabite points towards the rod tip. Alternatively the seabite easily clips on and off the rod clip if you would rather cast without the seabite attached.
